Hubstaff targets distributed and project-based teams that need hours attached to clients and deliverables. The vendor presents tracking as configurable, with optional capture settings rather than one fixed mode applied to everyone.

That flexibility is the real decision. Write down which options you will enable, who sees the resulting data and why, then judge whether the workflow still serves the people using it every day.

What tracking captures, and when

The interactive timer can capture screenshots, apps, URLs and activity levels when those settings are enabled and someone is tracking. A company-managed silent version of the app also exists, so deployments genuinely differ.

Ask in writing which deployment you are being sold. A transparent setup tells employees what is recorded, when the timer runs and who can view it. Match that answer to the policy you already have.
